ARIZONA/UTAH ROAD TRIP ITINERARY

Last month, we were fortunate to be able to take a week long road trip to end 2020 and ring in the New Year with happy beginnings. It's been a goal of mine to ring in the New Year in a different city every year but this year, we rang in the New Year in Las Vegas again for the 300 billionth time (3rd time actually) lol.

As promised, I'm sharing my road trip itinerary. We had to move things around last minute but the original itinerary can be found here. Feel free to copy and paste the itinerary onto a new document as a guide for your own itinerary. Below is a summarized itinerary of what we actually did:

ARIZONA/UTAH ROAD TRIP ITINERARY

Saturday, December 26:

  • Pick up car rental and head towards Phoenix, Arizona
    • Dinner at Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers (I do not recommend - they weren't very good lol)
  • Depart Phoenix, Arizona and head towards Sedona, Arizona

Sunday, December 27:

  • Check out of Wildflower Inn at Bell Rock and head towards Devil's Bridge Trail
    • Check out my Instagram Reels for a tip for hiking Devil's Bridge Trail
      • It was an hour wait when we arrived at 10am for pictures
  • One hour Polaris Slingshot rental at Sedona ATV Rentals
  • Depart Sedona, Arizona and head towards Page, Arizona
    • Stay at Best Western Plus (208 North Lake Powell Boulevard, Page, Arizona 86040)

Monday, December 28:

There was a winter snowstorm warning in Page, Arizona so instead of kayaking at Lake Powell, we decided to drive to Zion National Park instead so we booked another night at the Best Western Plus.

  • Breakfast at Best Western Plus (they had a full breakfast bar/buffet)
  • Drive towards Zion National Park
    • Hike Emerald Pools
    • Play with snow in the mountains
  • Drive back to Page, Arizona
    • We bought hot foods at the Safeway in Page, Arizona

Tuesday, December 29:

  • Check out of Best Western Plus and head towards Lake Powell
  • Went kayaking at Lake Powell and hiked Antelope Canyon (see my guide on kayaking lake Powell and hiking Antelope Canyon here)
Unfortunately, we got into a car accident after leaving Lake Powell as we were heading to Horseshoe Bend. We're okay and everyone is fine but we had to change our plans last minute. Luckily, a kind gentleman drove us and our belongings to a nearby hotel - Country Inn & Suites.
  • Stranded in Page, Arizona for another night and was a no show at the place we were supposed to stay that night (non-refundable so no cancellations)

Wednesday, December 30:

  • Check out of Country Inn & Suites and picked up new car
    • *Note: No uber/lyft, taxis or buses really in Page so definitely have a car to drive yourself around. We got lucky and found a gentleman who offers shuttle service but it's not guaranteed. Message me on Instagram if you need his contact info.
  • Head to Horseshoe Bend to take photos
  • Departed Page, Arizona and headed towards Red Canyon and Bryce Canyon in Utah
    • Hiked Bryce Point
    • Played in the snow again
  • Drive towards Hildale, Utah for our glamping experience for one night at Zion View Camping.

Thursday, December 31:

  • Check out of Zion View Camping and heads towards Coral Pink Sand Dunes
    • They ran out of sleds when we arrived so we rented a sand board ($25/all day)
  • Depart Coral Pink San Dunes and head towards Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Late lunch at Mr. Tofu House and got Bambu for dessert
  • Check in Alexis Park Resort and rest
    • Ordered food/drinks and stayed up 'till midnight to ring in the new year

Friday, January 1:

  • Check out of Alexis Park Resort
    • Stopped by Brew Tea Bar (best boba in Las Vegas)
  • Depart Las Vegas, NV and head home towards San Diego, CA

Saturday, January 2:

  • Return car rental in the AM
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a lot of driving but it was fun and we spent a lot of quality time together. I definitely recommend taking a road trip to explore since travel is pretty limited due to Covid-19. I hope that my itinerary helps you plan your trip💝
